The Birthing of Gods Shining Stars
Gods Shining Stars was founded in 2017 as a 501(C)3 Registered Non –Profit Organization, due to the visual disconnect I seen between our youth and what is needed for them to grow and flourish. In our community, at times, there is a lack of guidance, stability, and knowledge being pass along to our children. As parents, not excluding myself, it seems impossible to fit all things needed into one day, and do our best to enrich our children lives so that they grow to be successful but at times we may fall short. I, as a woman and a mother take the mantra “IT TAKES A VILLIAGE TO RAISE A CHILD “ very personally and dear to my heart because it’s it true and rewarding for our youth.
Majority of households are single parent households, so it makes it difficult to teach our children the things that’s outside of the basic fundamentals of living due to providing and making ends meet. So with having children, I found myself being more understanding to society and being willing to be apart of that village and I pridefully accept the responsibility that comes with it. In doing so , I pray that this will help better our youth and the parents by providing, a safe environment with resources for all that comes in contact with GSS, to become successful adults. Also, while providing other children with the resources they need, I have time to teach and instill these same teachings in my own children with LOVE and EXCITEMENT! It doesn’t get any better than that! As the founder and CEO, I really enjoy and take Pride in Gods Shining Stars and my Prayer is that Success stories are Birthed from the Foundation of the program. ​ ​ -Briteny Henderson
